Some games require that your child actually plays the game by physically moving and this can have great benefits, especially in children who tend to be more sedentary. Of course, first prize would be for your kid to play outside or participate in sports, but if you are having a tough time getting them to do this, certain video games can help.
When you game with your kid (instead of just allocating them some screen time), this is actually a great opportunity for some bonding. Most kids love playing video games and when one of their parents joins them, they learn that they can have fun with you and that they are important enough that you want to spend time with them. It also shows that you are interested in their lives and this can build a foundation for a future loving and trusting relationship when they are teenagers.
